OBSERVATIONS BEFORE LABELS
How the CatTempo quiz works.
A useful portrait should help you notice something, not tell you who your cat must be. Our approach starts with everyday behavior and the human habits around it.
Two sides of one household
CatTempo asks about your cat and about you. The first look contains five questions for each side, giving 10 in total. The deeper version has 15 for each side, giving 30 in total. The human questions describe how you approach this relationship; they are not a separate general-purpose personality assessment.
Think of a cat who sits beside you but walks away when a hand reaches over. That observation can suggest a preference for nearby company with more choice about touch. It does not automatically mean the cat is aloof, that you have a poor bond or that more handling will improve things.
From answers to an illustrated portrait
The questionnaire uses your selected answers to produce original cat and human character descriptions, relationship reflections and small activities. Interpretations are limited by what you can observe and report. They may miss context such as a recent move, pain, another cat blocking a doorway or a schedule that changed last week.
Read the fictional report for Milo and Alex as a demonstration of the presentation, not a prediction of your result. If a suggestion does not fit what your cat actually does, prioritize the cat in front of you.
Research informs the questions, not a validation claim
Published work studies feline personality and cat–human interactions using defined methods. Those findings do not validate our questionnaire, its original character categories or a commercial report. CatTempo has not independently established test–retest reliability, diagnostic accuracy or a scientific compatibility score.
Our research and reading page separates the studies and welfare guidance we refer to from the creative interpretation offered here. No cited institution endorses CatTempo.
Try an invitation, then observe
Choose one modest change: stop a game before interest fades, offer a resting spot nearby or let your cat initiate another round of contact. Notice whether your cat approaches, pauses, leaves or returns. A comfortable interaction includes the choice to end it. Never force contact to confirm a result.
A sudden change in behavior can have health or environmental causes. Speak with your veterinary team when appropriate; this quiz cannot diagnose or replace that assessment. You can answer first, preview the example and review the paid unlock details before purchasing a personal report.
